Fine Art
Fine Artist: Jamie Kirkland
Only recently have I begun to appreciate landscapes and most often the medium preferred was photography. That was until I discovered this (and others) oil painting by Jamie Kirkland. Flatlands stretching away into infinitum across some splotch of the Midwest is fascinating and haunting at the same time.
New York Artist: Jill Simonsen
While examining this piece by Jill Simonsen it became clear that I am nostalgic for simplicity. Moving into the city has been a welcomed compromise from what I have grown accustomed to while living in Los Angeles for most of my life but I can't escape thoughts of sun beaten nights at the drive-in movie theater in Modesto watching old beach films and copping a feel for as far I could take it.
New York Artist: Erik Laffer
It's true, investing in art is a luxury. In tough times the brunt of economic strain affects a painter who supports himself day in and day out by revealing the complexity of pure creation to be adorned or as more often case, ignored by the general public. The work of Erik Laffer held my attention. This piece, an untitled work, exhibits subtle nuances, displaced expressionist theory and is eerily composed to suggest enterprise may very well be on the horizon.
